Ron and I recently took the girls to Longwood Gardens to see their Christmas decorations. I was struck by the beauty in every flower and God's amazing kindness to give us color let alone a diversity of beautiful things at which to look. In discussing this with the girls, we commented how those in charge of Longwood Gardens have done an exceptional job at creating a setting for God's handiwork and they provide a beautiful array of His creation. We began to ponder how amazing heaven will be, far beyond the best attempts of the most imaginative gardener at Longwood Gardens.
Psalm 148 "He commanded and they were created...great sea creatures and all the depths; fire and hail, snow and clouds; stormy wind, fulfilling his word; mountains and all hills; fruitful trees and all cedars; beasts and all cattle; creeping things and flying fowl; kings of the earth and all peoples; princes and all judges of the earth; both young men and maidens; old men and children. Let them praise the name of the the Lord, for His name alone is exalted."

Trip to the Italian Market in Philadelphia
This year Ron and I hosted Christmas Eve. In preparation for having our family over, we took a trip to the Italian Market to pick up some cheese and peppadews at DiBruno Brothers; and, fresh, amazingly delicious bread at Sarcone's Bakery. If you are looking for something beautifully red for your table, that is both sweet and hot -- try a Peppadew. The Italian Market is a feast for your eyes! We did not buy the pig, but I couldn't resist taking its picture.

Family at Christmas Time
Growing up, I had the great joy of living very close to my cousins, aunts and uncles. My cousins were more like brothers and sisters than they were like cousins. I miss them greatly, but I am so thankful my children can be close to at least one side of their family to enjoy a little of what I knew growing up. Family is, no doubt, one of the greatest gifts of God we enjoy on this side of heaven and I am so thankful for both sides of my family and Ron's!

Thanksgiving 2011

"Young Men" - This is my husband above doing the pose we call, "raising the roof." Or, just having a good time. The men with him below, are his brothers. In the Psalm quoted at the top "Young Men" and "Old Men" are to praise the Lord. They certainly aren't "old" so I'm keeping this link labeled as "young men." And, they do "Praise the Lord" which is a great blessing to me. We were at my brother-in-laws home here and we are thankful for the "good times" we can share with family. This too is a reason to praise the Lord!

Fall at Bellevue State Park

The picture above should be labeled, "Young Mother Goose." She was trying to befriend a whole flock of geese. Pretty funny to watch, but very dear.

Our family enjoys taking walks here, there and any anywhere. One of our favorite places is Bellevue State Park. This was a very pleasant, crisp day during which God's handiwork was beautifully on display in the flocks of geese, the colors of the trees and the preciousness of meaningful conversations as we walked. I cannot take credit for all the pictures from this day as my camera was being passed around.
